With its spectacular setting in the iconic Sydney Opera House, Guillaume at Bennelong was a fitting venue for Australian Gourmet Traveller’s third annual Travel Awards. Getaway presenter Catriona Rowntree was the perfect host for the 2009 event which celebrated all that’s great about the Australian travel industry, from luxury resorts and eco-operators to inspirational tourism campaigns. A glamorous gathering of stars from the travel and entertainment industries, including movie actor Miranda Otto and Underbelly’s Jonny Pasvolsky, were treated to a fabulous dinner created by Guillaume Brahimi. Nespresso’s Eva Caprile and Renaud Tinel were there to present the 13 Readers’ Choice Awards, while Tourism Australia chairman Rick Allert handed out the six awards judged by Gourmet Traveller’s expert panel. Contributing to the evening’s success were event sponsors Nespresso, Getaway, British Airways, Design Hotels, Blue Pyrenees and Blue Tongue. Check out the full results of the awards here.
