Review:

In a rare moment of creativity, my employer shunned the usual bunch of flowers for my birthday and shouted me a night at Auckland's Stafford Villa. Although only a 10-minute drive from the CBD, it felt as though we were a million miles away. Set in a valley and surrounded by lush gardens, this grand Victorian home really has that 'wow' factor. We stayed in the China Blue suite - an Oriental-inspired room that came complete with 4-poster bed, TV & DVD player (to take advantage of the library of movies on offer) and a chilled bottle of champagne. The morning breakfast is something to behold. Owner Christina laid on a huge spread of homemade muffins, fruit salad & yoghurt, toast and our choice of cooked breakfast in the conservatory - vanilla french toast for me and an old-fashioned breakie for him. Trust me, it's VERY hard to leave this place!
