A taste of Barossa with Grant Burge
24 September 2008 to 24 September 2008
Grant Burge’s commitment to the Barossa Valley is absolute. Join him and taste exceptional wines at a celebratory wine event beside the sea.
The Barossa Valley is famous around the world for its premium table wines, and Grant Burge, fifth-generation Barossan vigneron and winemaker, is one of the most respected and innovative forces in the Australian wine industry.
In 2008, Grant Burge Wines celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Burge – who is as accomplished a story teller as he is a passionate winemaker – will host a series of dinners around the country, the third of which is at AquaMine, overlooking Clifton Gardens and Sydney’s spectacular harbour.
The evening will be co-hosted by Gourmet Traveller WINE contributor Nick Stock, who will encourage Burge to share both his tales of mischief and the secrets of his success, while showcasing the diversity of the Barossa through wines selected to guarantee a night of top-quality quaffing.
To get you in the mood for fun, an aperitif of Australia’s favourite premium fizz, Grant Burge Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay, will be served on arrival. Entrées will be accompanied by the delicate citrus and floral notes of the Thorn Riesling and the fuller, richer and equally delicious Summers Chardonnay.
During the main course, guests can indulge in a trio of outstanding reds: the delicate and brooding The Holy Trinity Grenache Shiraz Mourvédre; Filsell Shiraz, which displays powerful varietal characters and quintessential elements of the region; followed by Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon – wines of power and complexity, yet ones with a great deal of elegance. To top off the night, Burge will pour a rich and warming 10-year-old tawny, for which he has received worldwide acclaim as the leading winemaker for this style.
It promises to be a memorable evening indeed!
