I am heading to Melbourne soon, from the north coast of NSW, with my Italian partner, originally from Rome. I'd love to take him to the best Italian restaurant in Melbourne ... anyone want to nominate one? Price is not an issue, but quality of the food definitely is!

Guy GRossi restaurant FLORENTINO (3 restaurants in one all fantastic but for a real treat book in upstairs for degustation be prepared to be pampered and delighted with the food. Took my husband for his birthday and we are still talking about it. Purchased both Guy Grossi cookbooks and cooking his recipes at home!

I agree totally with O i ate there in about October 2009 had the degustation and it was awesome but dont eat lunch on the day your going well worth the money

Ate out at Giuseppe arnaldo & sons at the Crown.. Quality of food was definitely great. And they aren't all that pricey as well hope you get to drop in and check them out.

Agree with Li, GA&S @ Crown is affordable quality and does not follow the mold of your typical Italian restaurant. Note that you can not make bookings so I would suggest either an early or late dinner.
