Best New Hotels 2008:Tigerlily, Edinburgh
It’s excess all areas, from the restaurant serving grilled lobster tails or chocolate fondue to the striking looks of the basement bar Lulu, and even the spacious guestrooms which are kitted out in bold Designers Guild fabrics. The huge Georgian proportions of the rooms have been kept – this is in the heart of Edinburgh’s 18th-century New Town, after all – and the oversized furniture makes staying here feel like being a 10-year-old again.
We love That corners haven’t been cut with the guestroom design, and the invitingly huge beds and massive dressing mirrors are a welcome change from the tiny rooms you find in many other hotels.
Rooms from about $425,
