There’s a sense of tradition to this Sydney institution. Perhaps it’s the well-heeled patrons, who seem at home in the clubby surrounds. Or the refined and extremely capable service, some of this city’s best. Or the signature dishes, many of which have been mainstays for more than two decades. The profoundly rich fettuccine with cream, parmesan and fried truffled egg, tossed at the table, for example, or the crumbed veal rolled with spinach, nutmeg and parmesan. Tournedos Rossini, another signature dish, is robust, juicy and perfect
for big eaters. It’s wise to choose a few dishes and share. Order from the vast Italian-heavy wine list, and perhaps finish with the delicate chocolate di Verona – a chocolate and hazelnut mousse. Yes, it’s expensive, and three courses can verge on overwhelming, but while your wallet and waistline may squeal, your tastebuds will thank you.
