Best New Hotels 2007: Chambers, Minneapolis, US
Minneapolis is famous for its thriving arts, theatre and music scenes and now it has its first luxury art hotel. The art-filled Chambers concept touched down in New York a few years ago and its new sibling is just as jaw-droppingly impressive: interior design by David Rockwell, sculptures and paintings by Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin et al, and nosh by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Sixty handsome rooms, bathed in natural light and decked out in luxurious linens, make this the hautest address in town. Bathrooms feature coloured glass tiles, heated floors, and flat-screen televisions. The upper suites have views of the city’s central entertainment district, but something tells us the coolest parties will unfold in the hotel’s so-named ‘rock star suite’.
Doubles from about $250; suites from $570, www.chambersminneapolis.com,
