With Dark Mofo well underway, there’s plenty to do in Hobart right now. But when it comes to a late-night snack and tipple, you could find yourself out in the cold. Not this week. The sharp minds at Hobart restaurant Aløft and Melbourne’s Bar Liberty decided to team up for a two-night supper club on 15 and 16 June that offers snacks and drinks until one in the morning.

“We want staff from the Winter Feast or anyone who missed out on a ticket to still join in on the festivities,” Christian Ryan, Aløft’s owner and head chef, says.

Bar Liberty’s sous chef Joel Alderdice is flying down with bartender Nick Tesar, offering Liberty dishes and drinks alongside Aløft favourites and some supper club one-offs.

The snack menu – available from 9pm – will feature pig’s ears from Aløft, the Bar Liberty beef tartare and some collaborations – perhaps seafood on the grill – between Alderdice and Aløft’s Glenn Byrnes and Ryan.

Festival revellers will also be able to try cocktails fresh from Bar Liberty’s current list, with their pre-batch Negroni and signature spritz, made with Økar and local wine, making appearances. Living Wines and Last Rites Brewing Company keep the rest of the drinks list local.

The supper club will be walk-in only and, as one of the few spots open until 1am during Dark Mofo, it promises to be welcome shelter for anyone at a loose end.
