Gourmet Traveller reader dinner: Sat Bains at Vue de Monde, Melbourne

24 March 2009 to 24 March 2009

Six-course Sat
Hot UK property Sat Bains guest-stars at Melbourne’s Vue de Monde for our next reader dinner.

The chance to dine at Vue de Monde is a treat. The chance to dine at Vue de Monde with visiting UK star chef Sat Bains behind the pass is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Shannon Bennett is kindly handing over the Vue kitchen (hands off the truffles, Sat) to chef Bains for a six-course culinary romp through the Nottingham-based chef’s signature dishes.

“It’s our first time to Australia and we’re really looking forward to it,” says Bains. “We can’t wait to get some sun.” For our dinner, he’s put together a menu typifying the cuisine that has brought him acclaim at Restaurant Sat Bains. “We want to showcase some of the flavour combinations we’re known for at the restaurant.”

A star guest of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Bains is a hot name in Europe, taking out the 2008 Observer Food Monthly Best Restaurant award.

“Sat’s food is modern, yet classically driven,” says Shannon Bennett. “This, together with theatre, is what we aim to do at Vue de Monde, so it was an honour to be asked by Sat and the Festival to host such an exciting night.” Wines will be matched by Dalwhinnie and Taltarni. Get on the phone now and get booking – we’ll see you there.

Join us for dinner at Vue de Monde, 7pm, Tuesday 24 March, $210 per head, including matched wines from Dalwhinnie and Taltarni and a $10 donation to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
