It could be argued that Bob Oatley had an unfair advantage in the Best New Accommodation stakes – he is, after all, a billionaire. Designed by lodge specialists Pike Withers (think Lizard Island and Cradle Mountain Lodge), Qualia’s 60 north-facing pavilions and its private two-bedroom beach house combine natural materials such as wood, limestone and slate to create effortlessly luxurious interiors stocked with A-list essentials including Kenzo towels and Aesop toiletries. The pavilions come complete with sybaritic staples including oversized bathrooms, day beds and infinity plunge pools.
