Jolleys’ prime riverside position ensures every table enjoys a view of the languid Torrens. Inside is light and airy, with large, colourful paintings brightening white walls. While seafood and char-grilled steak are specialties, the menu shows both Mediterranean and Asian influences. It’s difficult to fault the kitchen’s technique, though some dishes want for balance in their flavours. Service, too, could be a little smoother. Exquisitely light salt cod and parsley fritters demand more than a thin smear of caper and parsley mayonnaise; crispskinned snapper is well complemented by sautéed mushrooms and asparagus, but an accompanying buttery purée of roasted carrots overwhelms. Ices dominate summer desserts, such as creamy lemon curd parfait with fresh raspberries. Most of the wines are patriotically South Australian, traditional varietals from respected makers.
