I'm new to roo and love its tenderness and flavour but would like something different to simply a rump roast. I've got some steaks ready to rock - any suggestions?

Depends on how much time you have, but i've found that roo is amazing in a curry. We made an awesome vindaloo. Tried it twice and the second time we halved the meat to spice ratio so that the curry was thick and delicious. Comfortably the best homemade curry i've ever had. If you're not a curry fan, i still recommend trying it slow cooked in a braise just to appreciate a different element of the meat.

Thanks very much for these links. I'm going to try both, the curry first because curry cooking is my delight!

Kangaroo steak/rump does make a delicious curry - try it 'kashmiri' style with yoghurt and almond paste.
I also like to use the tail - braise it and pick off the meat to make a ragu sauce for pasta - it has more fat than other cuts so it melts in the mouth.

Kangaroo steaks make great BBQ'd steak sandwiches with BBQ'd sliced veges such as eggplant, pumpkin, capsicum, onions, and BBQ'd whole unpeeled garlic cloves. Spread the cooked garlic pulp on BBQ'd Turkish bread instead of butter then stack on the steak and veges. Serve with a good tomato chutney, feta and fresh rocket.

I actually keep it simple with Roo especially the fillet. You don't want to mask that superb flavor with over seasoning or those terrible sauces that everyone insists on pouring over the meat. I simply marinade the Roo in pepper, salt, garlic and a glug of olive oil for a couple of hours and Grill over charcoal preferably.
