Situated in the historic Monti neighbourhood, just off the Via Nazionale, La Barrique is a refined, labyrinthine wine bar in which narrow corridors stacked with bottles radiate from the main room. It specialises in Italian and French wines (especially Champagne), but also boasts a fine collection of rum, whisky and other spirits, including not a few rare labels and vintages. Aperitivi are served with generous platters of cured meats and cheeses. Owner Fabrizio Gagliardi also does a good line in cocktails. Live jazz and blues music features most nights.
