Oliver's Taranga's 170th anniversary
Gourmet Traveller WINE takes you behind the scenes of the 170th anniversary of Oliver's Taranga.
McLaren Vale winemaker, Oliver’s Taranga celebrated 170 years of family grape-growing and winemaking in style. Fittingly, 170 of their best bottles were opened for 170 guests dining in their barrel shed early in October, 2011. Gran (88-year-old matriarch, Marjorie Oliver) was there, along with son Don Oliver and sixth-generation cousins, cellar door manager, Brioni Oliver and winemaker Corrina Wright who said, “We’re so lucky to have held our patch of McLaren Vale for 170 years – and thankful that the first generation, William and Elizabeth Oliver chose this special part of South Australian winemaking territory.”
