Which oven is better for baking: convection or gas?

I adore baking and am currently putting in a new oven. Is gas or convection better for baking?

Lisa Featherby, Gourmet Traveller food editor, responds:

All of our recipes are tested on conventional (non fan-forced) electric ovens. We find this is the best way to go for baking as the heat can be regulated well. You can buy ovens with convection, which is a good option to have (great for roasting) as well as top and bottom heating for even heat. Gas ovens can also burn on the base as all the heat comes from the bottom of the oven.
