A slice of the Left Bank on Southbank, this chic bistro works a fresh aesthetic with pea-green accents, flouncy lightshades and a breezy riverside terrace. There's an easygoing charm to the wait-staff, too, sporting navy Lacoste tees and happily spruiking classics from the textbook French menu. Entrées include garlicky snails in grassy puddles of persillade, and a quenelle of caper-flecked steak tartare ready to be piled onto pommes gaufrettes. Half a roast chook with buttery, artery-hardening Paris mash is pure Gallic comfort, while a plat du jour of char-grilled tuna with roast capsicum and salsa verde is Provence on a plate. The passionfruit crème brûlée is an exercise in French perfection, as the glassy, slightly bitter toffee shatters to reveal a smooth, satiny custard. With wallet-friendly lunches and a tight list of French-leaning wines, this is dependable dining with joie de vivre.
