Meatballs at Café Sopra are no longer tennis ball-sized but smaller portions still turn heads in this chatter-filled former pub. You smell them before they arrive and fellow diners steal glances as they pass. They're served with a licking of tomato sauce, rather than an unnecessary avalanche, and a touch of chilli nudges them out of ordinary territory. Zucchini flowers stuffed with five cheeses nail the ooze factor, and confit tuna insalata is enlivened with lemon segments, though locating capers and borlotti beans is a lucky dip. In keeping with its three siblings (The Rocks, Potts Point and Bridge Street), the restaurant shares space with a Fratelli Fresh providore and offers an all-Italian wine list. Blackboards spruiking specials around the ceiling bulkheads are a nice individual touch. Staff are rushed, so you may have to source your own condiments. Use it as an excuse to ogle what everyone else is eating.
