Genuine hospitality is impossible to fake. At Elyros, it feels like a warm embrace, from the familiar service to the abundance of food and the motherly encouragement to finish your risogalo. The two-tiered space spans a light-filled dining room of marble tables and chandeliers, and a relaxed mezze wine bar, where a row of terracotta urns offers a nod to Crete. Elyros's generosity is best exemplified in the sharing menu, a procession of robust yet refined Cretan dishes. Feast on dolmades, fava bean purée, raki-cured kingfish, flaky cheese pies, and smoked pork with wedges of charry peach. And that's just for starters. Delicate blue-eye with pipis might come next, followed by a hunk of slow-cooked lamb that yields under the gentlest nudge of a knife. To finish, there's the homespun comfort of that risogalo with honey and figs. The wine list highlights stellar Greek varieties such as minerally assyrtiko and cherry-bright agiorgitiko.
