Embracing cool, modern Italian style, Osteria Oggi matches its light, airy dining space with fresh, vibrant flavours on the plate. A former office has been transformed into a long dining corridor that leads to a light-soaked open room with white walls and blond timbers under a glass roof. In tune with the décor, the menu's many pasta choices dodge stodgy toppings, preferring a lighter touch for campanelle with smoked eel, chilli, peas and lemon. Gnocchi with a robust oxtail ragù on Jerusalem artichoke purée achieves similar balance. Sit at the long polished concrete bar and share small plates of veal tongue with anchovy and tuna mayonnaise, tripe with tomato, chilli and pecorino, or a decadent snack of lardo soldiers with a glass from the smartly curated wine list. Service is brisk and efficient, making Oggi an ideal lunch option. To taste multiple temptations, order the chef's selection - pranzo veloce (quick lunch) or lento (slow).
