They're serious about wine, but not themselves, at this beguiling neighbourhood restaurant, where the atmosphere is akin to a great dinner at the home of a bohemian friend. Inviting wood-floored rooms make it easy to pop in for a marsanne and a handsome charcuterie plate at a window-side perch. Well-drilled waitstaff have sass and a smile, while the wine list is an adventure playground. Start with a piquant ceviche scattered with black sesame seeds, or grilled scallops paired with chorizo. There are vintage bone-handled knives for slathering tarragon butter on house-baked bread, which you can use to mop up roast garlic purée darkened with squid ink from beneath rabbit (rack, loin and leg). Presentation is polished in pretty pan-fried John Dory with smoked avocado atop sweetcorn kernels. Chocolate sponge with honeycomb suggests grown-up Violet Crumble. Wine-matched feed-me menus lift the feel-good factor further.
