This handsome house of glass and marble might just change your attitude towards rooftop restaurants for the better. It doesn't hurt that the rooftop in question is that of Como The Treasury, Australia's flashest new hotel. Or that David Best, former Rockpool GM, oversees Wildflower's platoon of well-drilled waiters. Most convincing is a kitchen that relishes competing with the arresting views of the city centre. Native ingredients anchor the menu, but Jed Gerrard draws inspiration from all corners. Tender marron is paired with a rich beurre-noisette mayonnaise, while smoked kangaroo, blueberry-spiked tapioca and thyme make for a pretty arrangement. Muntries are an unexpected accompaniment to juicy, dry-aged duck; the sommelier's pick of a restrained Faber shiraz from the Swan Valley even more so. Desserts like airy milk crisps with candied desert lime and the restaurant's own rooftop honey accentuate the fine in fine dining.
