Since Torres Cellars Deli on Liverpool St in Sydney closed I've been unable to find authentic Spanish chorizo. Does anyone know a shop that carries them?

Richard- Torres Cellars Deli used to source many of their deli items from:
Casa Iberica
(Spanish groceries, deli items, paella pans and gas rings, cooking pots, spices)
25 Johnston St
Fitzroy VIC 3065
(03) 9419 4420

Great Spanish deli- the best I know of in Australia. I don't know if they ship or not- but I've gone out of my way to get to this deli to "stock up" when I'm anywhere near Melbourne. It's about three times the size of the old Torres Cellars deli. Good luck.

Best chorizo in Sydney can be found at black wattle deli at the fish markets. Or if in Manly you can order it at Jah Bar near the city eat it at Velero restaurant. It is made in Sydney by a Spanish company that imports and distributes to restaurants. Happy eating

While not Spanish style, Margarita's Cecina's in Fairfield has wonderful South American small goods including an outstanding chorizo. They also make wonderful empanadas and fresh salsas. Being from Mexico I often long for quality Spanish and Latin American foods. Since the closure of Torres Cellars there definitely has been a void in quality Chorizo.

Margarita's Cecina's can be found on 205 Hamilton Rd Fairfield. Phone: 97283371. It's a long drive from the city but totally worth it. Hey it's closer than driving to Melbourne.

chorizo (i.e sausage which is what chorizo means) can be found in fairfield at almost any butcher. There are several types, spicy, non spicy, small, really fat (south american sausages are the big fat ones) etc

Rodriguez sells them. They are located on the hume highway in chullora ( i think its chullora, as soon as you start heading down the hume highway from lidcombe towards liverpool you will see it on the left hand side). Ivan's butchery in merrylands also sells both the "spanish" version and the south american version.

All you have to do is cruise to fairfield. In fairfield, you will not only find chorizos, but you will also find the best cuts of asado (which is what Uruguayan's and Argentinian's cook on the parilla). However, you will not really be able to make the asado the best unless you have a parrilla in your backyard.

In fairfield, you will also find adobo, which is the main ingredient in the real chimi churri, which is actually a URUGUAYAN condiment. Please note, salsa Criolla is the argentinian version and is very different to chimi.

In Fairfield, you will also find mate (i can't do accents on this keyboard) a herbal drink eastern south americans drink, sort of like a tea, but part of our culture. With Mate, we eat bizcochos, small sweet delicacies which you can find at lion D'or patisserie (also in fairfield).

Hope this helps you, remember, real chorizos are not sold in David Jones food hall.
