Thomas Corner Eatery, a relative newcomer, overlooks the Noosa River and has a breezy, laid-back air, but the food has a subtle sophistication. Take owner/chef David Rayner’s Bangalow pork and thyme sausage roll – the savoury meat is sweetened with apple, elevating simple, honest tucker to smarter status. The addition of lemon flake to Moreton Bay bugs, served with melon cubes and limoncello dressing, lends an unexpected and appealing summery twist. Wines by the glass arrive in quirky science-lab beakers. Night-time sees the lunch menu step up to entrées and Rayner cranks up the grill. Build on your selection of Aberdeen Angus reserve sirloin with mustards, house-made sauces and sides. Crème brûlée cracks perfectly to reveal silken custard and beautifully soft, slightly tart stewed rhubarb.
