Vue de Monde

As the Guide was going to press, the finishing touches were being put on this third incarnation of Vue de Monde but, even incomplete, it showed heady, exciting, theatrical promise. A sky-high view, though spectacular, is relegated to backdrop by the action in the glamorous, dark-hued dining room and the central open kitchen. Two evening menus – “Choice” and “Freedom” – offer a four-course à la carte option (plus appetisers and numerous post-desserts) or a 14-plus course dégustation that might see transparent lemon gel ravioli stuffed with oysters, venison tartare sandwiched between crisp sheets of dehydrated venison meat, pork and smoked marrow, or lemon meringue ice-cream teamed with lemon curd and parsley. Service is impeccable but attractively relaxed, an attitude that seems to have permeated all facets of Shannon Bennett’s lofty new venture.
