I was reading the recipe for Churros and it said to use a spider to turn them in the oil.
What exactly is a spider? Thanks. A.

A spider is like an Asian slotted spoon. The handle is bamboo and spoon part is made of wire. They are perfect for use when deep frying as they allow the oil to drain easily away from whatever you are frying.
Spiders are very cheap and are available at Asian grocers.

As far as I am concerned, A SPIDER is a drink. It is a glass of lemonade, and a scoop of icecream. Better have a straw and spoon ready, cos it bubbles up quickly. Yum. bet this takes a few people back a number of years.

As delicious as those kinds of spiders are, I think they would prove rather unhelpful when deep frying :)
