REVIEW

There have always been plenty of reasons to go to Epocha. Housed in a beautiful terrace across from the Carlton Gardens, run by two of Melbourne's most experienced hospitality players and sporting an atmospheric upstairs bar, an all-European wine list and trolleys for both cheese and dessert, it knows how to show you a good time with all the trimmings. But now the European-influenced menu is showing increased flair and finesse. From crisp pig's ears elevated by juniper-spiked salt, to ocean trout cured with pine needles, zucchini agnolotti stuffed with truffled Saint Vernier cheese and an expertly roasted organic chicken, this is high-order comfort food. The approach sits well with a room that blends raucous and refined with rush-seated chairs and tiled-inlay tables set with gorgeous crystal glassware and vintage crockery. Add the glory of the don't-makeme- choose dessert trolley and it's an experience not to be missed.
