The Chinese proverb 'He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened' resonates at this magnificent swinging Chinesediner, which just keeps on pumping out soul-satisfying burnished plump ducks and other mostly traditional Cantonese delights, year in year out. Those glistening birds are a big attraction and Dan Hong wisely keeps them flying from his roaster. Detour-worthy duck is a fine thing, as are the deftly executed 'wild' mushroom or lobster and scallop dumplings. Opulence and generosity pervades this vast 240-seater, where the mantra seems to be 'more is more' whether it's caught from the tank or wok-fried with XO sauce. Harried staff will assist with wine choices from the global gadabout list stretching to serious celebration Champagnes. Big night out after the races, or fast-feed lunches are all catered for here, doggy bags when needed.
