Where to eat in South Australia's wine country

The Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale - wherever you find yourself among the vines, good food is never far away with this list in hand. Here are the best restaurants in South Australia's wine regions, as seen in the Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide, published in August 2017.

For more casual fare along the cellar-door circuit, try steaks or pizza at Saltram (Murray St, Angaston, 08 8561 0200), lively tapas at Home of the Brave Wine and Tapas Room (30-38 Barossa Valley Way, Nuriootpa, 08 8562 3324), and share-plates at Harvest Kitchen in the Artisans of Barossa tasting room (cnr Magnolia and Light Pass rds, Tanunda, 08 8563 3935).

Adelaide Hills views enhance elegant dishes at Hardy's Verandah in Mount Lofty House (74 Mount Lofty summit Rd, Crafers, 08 8130 9263), The Lane Vineyard (5 Ravenswood La, Hahndorf, 08 8388 1250), Maximilian's (15 Onkaparinga Valley Rd, Verdun, 08 8388 7777), Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard (166 Harris Rd, Lenswood, 08 8389 8339) and The Bridgewater Mill (386 Mt Barker Rd, Bridgewater, 08 8339 9200).
