Your Christmas stocking is getting an upgrade this year. A big one. The doors are now open to the Gourmet Traveller Christmas Boutique, a collaboration with our long-time friends Sorry Thanks I Love You, and some of Gourmet Traveller's award-winning chefs and sommeliers. The GT team has selected close to 200 of our favourite specialty goods for the entertaining season. At both Sorry Thanks I Love You boutiques in Sydney, The Rocks and Martin Place, the shelves are now stocked with everything from single-source honey, boutique spirits, coffee and chocolate, to chutneys, preserves, natural wine and panettone. And that's not all: there are cookbooks, hand-forged knives, one-of-a-kind ceramics, bar gear and glassware, too. These kitchen staples were chosen especially for the occasion by Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Award-winning talent including Jock Zonfrillo (Orana), Danielle Alvarez and Caitlyn Rees (Fred's), Mat Lindsay (Ester), Josh Niland (Saint Peter) and Nick Smith (Bar Rochford).
At an opening soirée in The Rocks last night, chefs, media and VIPs were treated to a first taste of the Christmas spoils. There was a whole Christmas ham, hot-smoked beef brisket, juniper-spiced pork terrine and more from Haverick Meats (keep an eye out for their excellent ham glaze in store); Oiseau et Renard wines courtesy of DRNKS; and festive cocktails from Sydney soda mavericks, PS40. Guests got into the spirit over fig leaf Spritzes made with Plantation Rum and Mancino vermouth, and Basil Smashes with Vestal Vodka and PS Bush Tonic (another summer must-have you'll find at the boutique). Huge thanks must also go to Young Henrys for the beers, Newcastle's Choux Patisserie and Sweet Stone for the custom desserts, and Allie Webb, Riedel, Santa Vittoria and Brickfields bakery for their incredible support.
Stay tuned for the full calendar of tastings, workshops and events taking place in store over the next month, along with our editor's picks and gift guides.
The GT x STILY Christmas Boutique runs until 24 December at Sorry Thanks I Love You, 140 George St, The Rocks, NSW, and GPO Building, ground floor, No 1 Martin Pl, Sydney, NSW.
