"This drink is a delicious mistake which occurred when I accidentally mixed the recipes for a Liberal and a Brooklyn at Milk & Honey in New York back in 2008," says The Everleigh co-owner Michael Madrusan.
- 60 ml rye whiskey
- 15 ml sweet vermouth
- 7 ml Amer Picon (see note)
- 7 ml maraschino syrup (see note)
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- To fill: ice cubes
- To serve: lemon peel
- 1Add ingredients (except lemon peel) to a chilled mixing glass, stir for at least 40 seconds to combine and thoroughly chill. Taste for balance, strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a lemon twist and serve.
Note Amer Picon is a bittersweet orange-flavoured French apéritif available from select bottle shops. For maraschino syrup, mix equal parts sugar syrup and maraschino liqueur.
