Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is coming to Melbourne. It’s the second Australian location for the company, in addition to its first in Sydney’s CBD hotel, and the first one in Melbourne.
It will be housed in STH BNK by Beulah – a new development along the Yarra River which, upon completion, will include the tallest tower in Melbourne, commercial offices, eating and drinking precincts, residential apartments, and more. The 2.7 billion dollar project is scheduled to be finished in 2027.
The hotel will have 210 rooms, taking the upper levels of the precinct’s western tower. Guests will check in via a “Sky Lobby” on the 63rd floor, which offers panoramic views over Melbourne and surrounds. Amenities will include a health and wellness experience, a rooftop restaurant and bar, and several event spaces.
The striking design of STH BNK’s dual towers – a collaboration between Cox Architecture and UNStudio – features a vertical garden running down the side of both buildings. It will eventually cover a surface area of 5.5 kilometres, which puts it on track to become the “tallest vertical garden in the world,” per states a Beulah press release.
At ground level, the marquee cultural tenant of the precinct is Centre Pompidou. Announced last month, the iconic Parisian museum – whose renowned Seine-side Renzo Piano-designed building is world-famous – is opening a gallery dedicated to showcasing contemporary art to young audiences. It’s a significant opening and, given its position steps away from the Arts Centre and NGV International, it’s set to contribute to the creation of a truly world-class arts and culture precinct for Melbourne.
Construction on the Four Seasons Hotel Melbourne commences later this year, and is due for completion in 2027.
