Food Writer

Emiko Davies is an Australian-Japanese food writer and cookbook author based in Italy. She grew up between Canberra and Beijing, gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design and has called Tuscany home for the last 19 years. She began a regional Italian food blog while living in Florence in 2010 and was a columnist for four years for Food52. She has contributed to publications such as Financial Times, Food and Wine and Gourmet Traveller, and as a restaurant critic for the Good Food Guide. She currently is a recipe columnist for Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. Together with her husband, a Tuscan sommelier, she runs culinary workshops, cooking classes and a natural wine bar, Enoteca Marilu, in San Miniato (Tuscany). She has written six cookbooks, including five Italian cookbooks, while her most recent book, Gohan (Smith Street Books), is about the Japanese cuisine of her upbringing.
