While holidays provide you with an enjoyable escape from reality, sometimes air travel can be far from relaxing. However, Swiss skincare brand La Prairie are changing the game, teaming up with Heinemann Australia to bring a sleek pop-up beauty cabin to Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport. The world-first initiative has been specially designed to offer travellers the opportunity to relax and prep their skin before boarding their flight.

Located in duty-free departures, the luxury treatments are a great way to kick-start your holiday once you’ve checked-in and made it through customs – and if you’re interested in trying out some of La Prairie’s signature products (or they’re already part of your daily routine) we’d highly recommend treating yourself to a 20-minute facial.

Conducted in a private beauty suite, facials include a deep-cleansing, facial massage and application of products that best suit your skin concerns. You’ll be offered a treatment from the Platinum Rare, Skin Caviar or White Caviar collections to ensure your skin is flight-ready.

When it comes to my skin, texture and acne scars are my main concerns. During my pre-flight treatment, products from La Prairie’s White Caviar collection were used to brighten my complexion and refine its texture. Upon application, the products felt luxurious when massaged into the skin. My skin was visibly brighter, more plump and moisturised after the experience, which was extremely refreshing before a long-haul flight.

The treatment comes complimentary with any La Prairie purchase and is followed by a 10-minute skin consultation. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, make sure to book in advance here and secure a spot.

“We are bringing a unique immersive experience to Sydney Airport to allow guests to select either a luxury treatment in a private suite, or an express service that can be performed on-counter,” says La Prairie Managing Director Australia and New Zealand, Rosi Fernandez.

If you don’t have enough time to spare, there are also a range of complimentary on-counter express services; including a bespoke skincare ritual recommendation, an instant eye revive, skin caviar hand and arm massage and the chance to trial La Prairie’s makeup collection.

Our favourite? La Prairie’s signature eye massage, which helps to smooth, firm and brighten the eye area before flying 35,000 feet in the air. The use of cooling facial globes are seriously satisfying and help to reduce puffiness under the eyes, leaving your skin tightened and energized – which is a must when travelling on any international flight.
