When Jackalope Hotel opened on a Mornington Peninsula winery in 2017, it was like nothing the region had seen before with its striking charred timber-clad main building, neon-lit hallways and dark, shimmering interiors. It remains impressive; its sleek, modern geometric lines an arresting juxtaposition with its bucolic rural vineyard setting.
The rooms
The 46 rooms and suites all have private balconies, with the two biggest suites – known as Lairs – offering an indoor-outdoor fireplace for year-round balcony enjoyment. High ceilings, sleek dark-hued furniture, Hunter Lab bathroom products and a gratis mini bar (aside from wine) are features of all rooms, and many have freestanding tubs. For the best experience, request a room overlooking the sleek black infinity pool and the vineyard beyond.
Food & drink
Doot Doot Doot, the signature restaurant at Jackalope Hotel and also the venue for breakfast, features a sculptural 10,000-globe chandelier and creative dinner menu liberally strewn with luxury ingredients like lobster, caviar and wagyu. There’s more casual dining at Rare Hare, in the nearby winery building, while Flaggerdoot is the hotel bar, which offers experimental cocktails and an electric blue pool table.
The service
A young, enthusiastic and unfailingly friendly team seem genuinely invested in you having a good time.
