Mandarin oranges add tangy-sweet freshness to both savoury dishes and desserts. The sweet, small sibling in the citrus family works perfectly well in a quick, easy and vibrant salad where it’s best paired with the salty hit of cheese in our baked feta and mandarin orange dish. In other mandarin recipes, it holds its own alongside roast fish, roast duck, charred octopus and even beef cheek ravioli.

As for mandarin desserts, we have a mandarin orange cake with ginger syrup, mandarin-glazed cookies, jammy mandarin and cinnamon buns and baked ricotta cream with mandarin caramel. Really, what can’t this wonderously tiny orange do?
