The Hoxton, Paris
Behind the heritage-listed rococo façade of this 18th-century hôtel particulier is a very chic 172-room hotel by the Hoxton group. Its location in the newly hip 2nd arrondissement, near the Pompidou Centre, brings to mind the group’s London outpost in Shoreditch. Arranged around two courtyards and linked by grand staircases, guestrooms have oak floors, ornate cornices and wood panelling, and custom furnishings with echoes of 1950s Paris. Fourth-floor rooms have views of the Eiffel Tower.

Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers
This hotel takes its name and design cues from the engineering and manufacturing institute across the street. Concrete walls, oxidised copper cladding and burnt-wood bars are softened by textured headboards, parquetry floors and velvet upholstery; most guestrooms have a balcony or terrace. Located between the Marais and the Montorgueil quarter, the 70-room hotel has two Italian restaurants, one with a retractable roof for summer dining, a bar with a cocktail menu inspired by perfumes, and a rooftop bar.

CitizenM Paris Gare de Lyon Hotel
Step from a train into this brilliantly located hotel in a former office block, the third in Paris by Dutch hotelier CitizenM (the others are located for easy escape at Charles de Gaulle airport and La Défense.) Designed primarily for millennials and budget business travellers, the hotel has communal spaces featuring custom street art, a bright 24-hour café and lobby fireplace. Its 338 rooms have beds that convert into sofas by day, rain showers, free movies and “mood pads” to control temperature and lighting.
