Some come to Icebergs for the scenery, others just for the scene. Some people even come for the food. It is is nothing if not versatile, swinging seamlessly from brunch to bar to dining room, the blue-on-blue Bondi panorama shimmering all the while. Those who come to dine are rewarded nonetheless. Monty Koludrovic knows when to play it straight: snapper roasted on the bone is dressed simply; silverbeet and celeriac crown lamb loin and slow-cooked neck. But then fusilli all'Amatriciana di mare brilliantly bends the brief with an XO-style base and crunch from hot and numbing pangrattato. Yes, waitstaff can miss the detail, but Icebergs excels at offering both depth and approachability. Like with the natural wine selection complementing a more classic list (there if you want it, but not in your face), or the outrageous gold-dusted tiramisù to share - dive a little deeper here and find surprise and reward lie just under the surface
