The Central Coast has long been a retreat for Sydney’s city dwellers, and Bells at Killcare elevates the region’s allure with its effortless Hamptons-chic charm. Nestled among lush, manicured gardens, the gentle hum of cicadas creates a serene escape from urban life. But with its thoughtful service, refined dining, and expansive views stretching back to Sydney, you’re reminded that this peaceful oasis is only 90 minutes from the city.

The rooms

Bells at Killcare’s rooms are a masterclass in understated luxury. The classic cottage rooms, dressed in Ralph Lauren furnishings and offering freestanding copper bathtubs and private verandahs, evoke the feel of a coastal retreat. In 2024, the property expanded with four tri-level lodges that combine the space and privacy of a holiday home with the indulgence of a boutique hotel. Each lodge boasts a fully equipped kitchen with Chasseur cookware, a Smeg oven, and a sprawling lounge area complete with a crackling fireplace and deep linen sofas. Expect heavy canvas robes and a decadent bath, ready to be transformed with housemade Bouddi botanical bath salts – an invitation to unwind in style.

Food & drink

Bells at Killcare’s dining scene has entered a new chapter with the return of former Bistro Moncur and Bombini chef Cameron Cansdell as culinary director. His arrival heralds a new era of refined yet relaxed dining at Wildflower, which celebrates the seasonal abundance of the hotel’s kitchen garden with a Mediterranean flair. House-made pappardelle comes generously coated in a rich duck ragu; figs are paired with creamy mozzarella and drizzled in balsamic; and scoops of silky gelato offer a perfect end to the meal. For those who prefer to dine in, the hotel’s larder is a well-curated haven, stocked with freshly baked pastries, tinned goods, charcuterie, and even canned cocktails. Room service is also available for those seeking a more private dining experience.

The service

The perfect balance of laid-back coastal charm and polished hotel service. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive room service, you’ll feel instantly at ease. Each morning, freshly baked bread and the day’s newspaper greet you, while turn-down service includes fluffy pillows and indulgent Loco Love chocolates.

Ideal for: Romantic getaways and group stays

Why we love it:

  • The pools. Whether it’s swimming laps in the main pool at Bells at Killcare or taking a refreshing dip in the private four-metre plunge pool at the Lodges, a swim at Bells is essential.
  • Easy access to nature. Bouddi National Park, with its secluded beaches and picturesque walking trails, is just moments away, perfect for nature lovers.
  • The well-stocked bakery. Whether it’s a quick coffee and sausage roll to go or stocking up on pantry essentials like Perello olives, Old Bones hot sauce, and Ortiz anchovies, the bakery is a haven for local and international delicacies.
