Piercing the clouds over Sydney Harbour, Crown Towers was never going to be a shrinking violet, but Barangaroo’s centrepiece is even more extra than expected. Sydney’s tallest building – and the first meaningful disruption of the city’s skyline for decades – is all about glamour and scale, inside and out.
The rooms
With even the most compact of the 394 rooms luxuriating at 47 square metres, packing light is a moot point. The views flooding through floor-to-ceiling windows only exaggerate that sense of space, echoed by interiors inspired by the location, with a palette of coastal greys and blues alongside textural touches including marble and leather. Bathrooms are a highlight, with egg-shaped tubs, walk-in rain showers, Japanese smart toilets and Grown Alchemist toiletries, all of which can be enjoyed with a glass of in-room Archie Rose, specially blended for Crown Sydney.
Food & drink
With multiple top-tier offerings over multiple floors, this is a food and drink destination whether or not you’re staying the night. Oncore by Clare Smyth is a major drawcard, closely followed by A’mare and Woodcut. Meanwhile, Epicurean sets a new standard for hotel breakfast buffets.
The service
Professional and attentive, the service is strong, though with an operation of this size, it pays to be mindful of peak times, especially at the weekend.
Ideal for: Those whose travel philosophy is ‘go big or go home’
Why we love it:
- The pool. Crown rightly boasts it is the city’s only infinity pool – and it comes surrounded by resort-style cabanas and all-day dining.
- People watching. Relax in the lobby as a wildly eclectic blend of guests brings its fascinating A-game.
- The palatial rooms. Finally, somewhere fit for your LV trunk and hat boxes.
