There’s no shortage of ritzy hotels and glam resorts in Surfers Paradise, but QT Gold Coast stands out with its blend of luxury and personality. Since opening in 2011, the hotel has embraced a playful spirit – think pops of colour, a vintage Australiana beach-meets-Miami-chic aesthetic, and eclectic artwork, including Jennifer Steinkamp’s digital installation in the lobby.
The rooms
Whether overlooking the ocean or the city, the rooms are bright, spacious and packed with personality. Bonus points for stylish Missoni robes, Kevin Murphy bathroom amenities and a Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. A few years ago, QT Gold Coast introduced cabins — a first for the brand — offering a fresh take on city stays.
Food & drink
On the ground-floor, Yamagen channels the energy of a downtown Tokyo izakaya, serving sushi, sashimi and smoky kushiyaki. For breakfast, Bazaar elevates the hotel buffet experience with chef-run stations and dishes inspired by the Middle East and Latin America. By the pool, The Spring serves exactly what you want while lounging – think prawn rolls, Baja fish tacos and cocktail jugs. Fancy venturing further afield? Modern Asian restaurant Rick Shores is just a 30-minute drive away.
The service
With front-desk staff known as ‘Directors of Chaos,’ expect charismatic, personable service. Their uniforms? As quirky and eclectic as the hotel itself.
Ideal for: Weekend getaways and group celebrations
Why we love it:
- The pool. One of the most stylish hotel pools around, thanks to its striking black stripes. Pro tip: book a private cabana in advance – there are several packages to choose from.
- The ocean views. Score one of the ocean view rooms on a higher level for incredible views of the Pacific.
- The cabins. For something different, book a cabin on the lower-level rooftop. Fitted with bedding from I Love Linen, Saya Skincare, Drift Candles and Harvest Clay ceramics, it feels like a little outdoor oasis.
