Brilliantly located with easy access to Melbourne CBD’s renowned mix of dining, shopping, nightlife and art, QT Melbourne’s exuberantly decorated public areas, chatty lifts and minimalist, industrial-vibe rooms make it the ideal, just-the-right-amount-of-quirky scene-setter for intrepid Melbourne explorers.
The rooms
The calmingly spare 188 rooms and suites in the 11-storey building are generously proportioned with high ceilings, whitewashed walls, parquetry floors and spacious bathrooms (equipped with Kevin Murphy hair products and Dyson hair dryers) behind metal-framed partitions of rippled glass. QT’s signature gel-topped mattresses are a welcome feature as is a minibar stocked with everything from local booze and snacks to socks.
Food & drink
Rooftop at QT is a fine and spacious specimen of Melbourne’s renowned rooftop bar scene with a list of signature cocktails and punchy snacks to rival the view. Downstairs there’s Italian-accented Pascale Bar & Grill (also the venue for breakfast – consider the shakshuka) and its classic hotel cocktail bar neighbour Bar 133 while, on street level, Deli QT does an impressive line in coffee and panini.
The service
From costumed ‘Directors of Chaos’ greeting you at the entrance to the gracious reception team, service here is charming, efficient and detail-focussed.
Ideal for: Urban explorers keen on discovering Melbourne’s arty side
Why we love it:
- The resident dog. Russell, a labrador retriever, is a permanent member of staff.
- The lobby. The neon installation art and taxidermy peacock swiftly set the mood.
- The shopping. Tanto, a boutique Japanese knife shop, offers unique gift-buying opportunities.
