REVIEW

Hear that? That's Bunbury buzzing about this high-paced diner. Cooking over fire might be decidedly trendy - as is the room's bare brick, exposed timber and Edison-bulb aesthetic - but Market Eating House's relaxed approach to hospitality is perfectly pitched for its locale. Middle Eastern flavours underscore much of the menu, so skewers of char-grilled cuttlefish are presented with a preserved lime mayonnaise, a turn on the grill sees eggplant transformed into exemplary baba ghanoush, and bowls of hummus are showered with ground lamb and raisins. Sides - Cypriot grain salad and Brussels sprouts dressed with poached egg sauce - are as compelling as the meatier plates. Keenly priced tasting menus remain the best way to test the kitchen's mettle, they also leave guests free to explore the wine list, which champions Geographe and other local vignerons. The peanut butter parfait, meanwhile, is as sweet as the obliging service.
