How exciting to know every All Saints fortified muscat and muscadelle from youngest to oldest (edging 100) is available by the glass at Terrace. Another reason to visit this welcoming winery restaurant is Simon Arkless's seasonal menu, as pleasing to the eye as to the palate. Think pan-fried fillets of baby mullet partnered with squid-ink tortellini filled with a delicate crab and scallop mix and a chive-flecked beurre blanc that finishes the dish perfectly. Or a dainty, flavoursome combination of smoked sardines, sliced octopus and fennel with a salty twang from taramasalata and crunch from crumbed and fried green olives. There's a light touch with sautéed potato gnocchi enriched with garlic, Swiss brown mushrooms, roasted broccoli, goat's cheese and fried quail eggs. A fortified for dessert or custard tart layered with medjool dates and cumquat ice-cream? Both, we say. The rustic dining room overlooks manicured gardens, ideal for walking off lunch.
