Join us for lunch on the Mornington Peninsula at our pop-up, Gertrude Street Enoteca at Avani Red Hill.
Get ready for a summer of fun on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula as we team up with Gertrude Street Enoteca and Red Hill winery Avani to open our first ever pop-up restaurant this month. Backed by Cobram Estate, Gertrude Street Enoteca at Avani Red Hill will see Enoteca co-owner and GT contributor Brigitte Hafner in the kitchen creating a different three-course set menu every day. “I’m really excited about using all the great local produce and to be creating a new menu of simple Mediterranean food every day,” says Hafner. “I love cooking like that because it’s like doing a dinner party for friends each day.”
The pop-up will be housed in a mudbrick and timber building at Avani, the winery at Red Hill South where Shashi and Devendra Singh make biodynamic shiraz. Expect a hands-on approach from the GT team, too, not least from editor Anthea Loucas: “I spend my summer holidays here and love the region, so I know how great the wine and raw ingredients are,” she says.
Tortellini with sage butter, fritto misto, goat’s cheese and herb tarts, plus schnitzels and meatballs for the kids, will all make appearances during the pop-up’s January run, as will wines from across the peninsula. It’s a limited season, so book early. We’d love to see you there. Gertrude Street Enoteca at Avani Red Hill presented by Gourmet Traveller will be open for lunch Wed-Sun from 2-26 January. Book on (03) 9415 8262 or at gertrudeenoteca.com. For menu updates follow us on Instagram.
