To celebrate the 45th anniversary of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather, Bar Americano’s Matt Bax is hosting a screening of the classic at the grand old Astor Theatre in St Kilda on Friday 28 April, complete with a pop-up Bar Americano on site serving Negronis and Americanos from 6.30pm.
“The event came about as I’m a movie nerd,” says Bax. “I love that film and thought it would be a sweet idea to watch The Godfather at The Astor, then it dawned on me … what an even better idea: The Godfather + The Astor + a Bar Americano Negroni.” Leave the gun, folks, take the Negroni.
The Godfather x Bar Americano, Friday 28 April, The Astor, Corner Chapel St & Dandenong Rd, St Kilda, Vic. Bar opens at 6.30pm, the film commences at 7.30pm. Tickets are available online here.
