Missy French, the Sydney brasserie opened by Josephine Perry a little over a year ago, has ceased trading. Perry confirmed today that the restaurant closed for renovations on Monday and won’t reopen in its current format. She and her business partners have been approached by another party, whose interests for the site remain unannounced, and Perry says she was happy to accept their offer. “I’m 22 and I’m looking forward to spending some time being 22 rather than running a restaurant.”
The year 2016 has seen a great many high-profile restaurant openings, but more than a few big names and ambitious new players have also closed their doors or changed format, Marque, Silvereye, Master, MoVida Sydney, Moon Park and Rockpool (which reopened as Eleven Bridge) among them.
In this case, at least, “it’s a positive thing,” says Perry fille. “I’m looking forward to spending some time travelling and taking a break, and then to some new challenges.”
