A new release for discerning spirits drinkers, 1800’s GuachiMonton is a citrus-forward, golden añejo tequila that pays tribute to the rich history of Mexico’s Tequila Valley.
It’s matured for at least a year in American and French oak after a slow, 4-hour cook in traditional ovens, before being finished in casks that once held orange tequila liqueur to impart a bright citrus dimension on the finished product. Vanilla and toasted oak aromas open up to caramel, baking spices and roasted citrus notes. The layered complexity is best suited to enjoying neat or on the rocks, or in a classic cocktail like a Guachi Old Fashioned.
The name and bottle (a deep red ceramic, topped with a wooden cap) are inspired by the striking concentric structures at Jalisco’s Los Guachimontones, a breathtaking historic site at which 1800 has committed to help support the conservation, museum and cultural initiatives.

Before GuachiMonton hits shelves in Australia in October, curious spirit drinkers should seek out 1800’s exclusive tasting experience available at limited venues, pairing a neat pour of añejo tequila with a custom chocolate creation by award-winning Australian artisan chocolate brand Zokoko. Crafted at the base of the Blue Mountains, the milk chocolate spheres (echoing the formations of Los Guachimontones) are filled with a luscious mandarin and tequila ganache, bringing the spirit of craftsmanship from Jalisco’s famed mountain ranges to Australia’s. The custom chocolates were made to pair perfectly with the rich oak, citrus and spice notes of the tequila, and offer a moment to savour at select venues including
