REVIEW
There’s so much to love about this Hunter Valley favourite: the spectacular views of the vine-clad valley, the charm of the French provincial décor, and the friendly floor staff who offer a specific dose of hospitality that you just don’t get in the city. Then there’s the hearty, European-inspired food that’s a real crowd-pleaser. In short, this is one top-notch country restaurant that spoils you from start to finish. Rich flavours combine for maximum impact in a creamy cassolette of veal sweetbreads, mushroom and tarragon. A civet of rabbit is braised in a Dijon mustard and green-olive sauce for a memorable main course, the meat falling from the bone, a side of super-creamy pommes mousseline adding to the decadence. Finally, a passionfruit parfait with lychees, coconut snow and lime crisp tops off a satisfying meal. The letters above the exit say it all: Amour – this is an affair to remember.
