REVIEW
Warning: visiting Julius may prove highly addictive. It’s not just the team’s crisp-based, wood-fired pizze, which always emerge from the wood-fired oven all puffy-edged and nicely charry. It’s also the flirty drinks list – the snappy yet smiling service – and the theatre of Italian dining in a space that skips clichés in favour of low-key cool warehouse chic. Although Julius is far more than just a pizzeria, your evening should still include at least one pie: a bianche offering sans tomato, perhaps, with potato slices and rosemary dialled up with plenty of fudgy-spicy ‘nduja with scamorza and mozzarella, or a classic Margherita, done right. The venue’s limited-bookings policy means possibly having to cool heels before snagging a table, but good things – like creamy old-school cassata ice-cream with fritelle, egg-sized and sugar-dusted golden brioche dumplings that are filled with chocolate custard – may later come to those who wait.
