REVIEW
Kent Street Kitchen is all about dreamy styling – luscious soft furnishings, generous padded chairs with armrests and magnificent slabs of unclothed white marble tables. It has photo shoot written all over it. Service, too, is polished, and food presentation highly curated, with irregular shapes, petals, flowers, leaves, droplets and foams providing interesting surfaces and textures. No kitchen trick is missed. If that’s your style, you won’t be disappointed. Mount Cook alpine salmon sashimi is light and fresh, while poached blue-eye trevalla with tomatoes three ways produces a flavoursome combination. But the highlight is dessert – Tropic Thunder, a well-executed celebration of coconut done four ways. Thunderous applause for this one. The Kent Street Kitchen is part of a pamper palace, a destination where spa, hotel and restaurant show Sydney can do high end. So dress up for date night or take your clients and you’ll be sure to cut the deal.
